What can you tell us about your new single “Better Type” and the process behind creating that song?

When I write a song, I usually write the song about what I’m currently feeling at that moment. So, if I’m in a sad mood then that’s what the song’s going to be about. The day I wrote this song, I was sad about something. Usually, I have a long drive to LA before my sessions, so I listen to music to get inspired on my drive and then I pull up my notes and start writing the general idea of what I want the song to be about. When I went into the session, I told the story and we started to find a piano chord progression and then wrote the melody along with the lyrics. We wrote the verse first to start and then the chorus and then the bridge.

You co-wrote this song with Zach Sorgen who has written for a ton of other amazing artists like Ava Max and Charlie Puth! What was that experience like?

I absolutely loved working with Zach! He has such a relaxed calm vibe which allows me to really get out my thoughts within a song. He’s so upbeat and positive and really took the time to listen to what I wanted the song to be about, all while having creative ideas to bring the song to life.

If you could collaborate with anyone this year on a track, who would it be and why?

I love Noah Kahan, [so] that would be a dream. He is such an amazing writer. I love every one of his songs. I went to his concert this past year and was even more inspired seeing him live and hearing him talk about the early stages in his music career coming to LA to be a writer in music sessions.

Do you think this single gives listeners a sneak peek at what they can expect music wise from you this year?

Not really! I’m a Gemini which leads me to being in different moods all the time. I write my music within the moods I’m feeling that day. I also love different genres and styles of music. I have been listening to some ballads, rock tracks and pop songs.

Fans are loving the lyric video for “Better Type.” Can fans look forward to seeing more visuals from you soon?

With the release of my EP, I really want to do another music video! We are currently talking about that.

You have a giant fanbase on social media. How do you balance everything when it comes to posting and interacting with your followers? What would you say is your favourite social media platform right now?

I try as much as I can to get back to my followers by responding to comments and interacting with fans. My favourite platform is TikTok.

Coco "I've gotten so many amazing things from the industry, but honestly best thing that I've gotten from it is like my fan base because they are always there for me when I need them. Like they are day ones and I just can't appreciate them more. Like even though I could probably say it a lot more, like I want to let you guys know that I love you all so much. Like literally, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for them."
